An earthquake of a magnitude of 4.7 has shook the province of Ilocos Sur. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) detected the quake struck at 4:51 a.m. early Saturday morning and traced the epicenter two kilometers (km) northeast of Sigay, Ilocos Sur.
Phivolcs found out the tremor had a depth of focus of 100 km beneath the surface and of tectonic origin. Surrounding Vigan city, an Intensity 2 quake was felt by residents.
Phivolcs said that no damage to buildings and ground were reported and aftershocks should be expected.
