Cebu – National Meat Inspection Service and the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Fisheries set fire to 260 kilos of imported meat

These imported meats came from Poland and Belgium, two of the countries affected with African Swine Fever (ASF).

These meat products were seized during the inspection at the DVMF office on Thursday morning.

Dr. Jennifer Luarente, office-in-charge of the Public Health section of DVMF, stated that they had to burn the pork meat to avoid putting consumers at risk.

Delia Cabilita, operations manager of the meat shop, added that it was supposed to be the last batch of pork products delivered from Germany.

Her team will have to check with their suppliers on why the frozen pork flat bones and frozen pork cutting fats were mixed in the delivery.
