Ten Abu Sayyaf group members surrendered Monday in Ungkaya Pukan, Basilan, to government forces, the military said Tuesday.
Western Mindanao Command (WestMinCom) spokesman Major Arvin Encinas named as Masbil Hoben, Haidal Tadling, Tong Sarunan, Said Kapon, Atung Ajallun, Samatin Matindo, Mulhakim Alabin, Asanuddin Dailon, Andoy Pingli, and Said the 10 who were under Furuji Indama.
The members of Abu Sayyaf also surrendered to the 18th Infantry Battalion their high-powered weapons.
Encinas also said that the barangay officials from the municipalities of Albarka and Tipo-Tipo turned over assorted weapons.
A maximum of 32 weapons was surrendered to government forces, including one Ultimax, two M14, four M16, one M203, four Carbine, and twenty Garand rifles, Encinas said.
Meanwhile, the commander of the 18th Infantry Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Ivan San Jose, welcomed the local terrorists who surrendered.
Those who surrendered and their weapons were then reported to the Basilan Command of the Joint Task Force.
